Kayla Darby Benefit

On behalf of the Alumni Association, I would like to extend my thanks and gratitude for your support of the Kayla Darby Benefit.  Because of the generosity of members of the Donoho family, the association will be making a contribution of $10,000 to the Kayla Darby Fund at Regions Bank.  Again, thank you for your generosity and support. Signed: Boyd McGehee, ‘99, Alumni Association President

I could not attend the Kayla Darby Benefit,
but would like to make a donation:

The "Kayla Darby Benefit" was held on Thursday August 14th, 2008 at the Anniston Country Club. The money raised from this benefit will be donated to the Kayla Darby Fund at Regions Bank to help the family with medical and travel expenses during her treatment in Birmingham.

Volleyball Tournament Regions Bank - Kayla Darby Fund
Thank you so much to all of you who helped make the Tournament a success! We appreciate those that worked the concessions, admissions, line judges, scorekeepers and those that helped with the food and more! Photos from the tournament to come soon....
If you took photos at the tournament, please email them to Susan Shropshire.
A fund has been set-up at Regions Bank for the family.  Any one wishing to make a donation to this fund should visit a Regions location and make a donation to the "Kayla Darby Fund."  This fund will allow the family to provide for unexpected expenses they may occur in the coming months.

Many of you have asked to help provide meals for the Darby Family. We are now setting the dates! You can click on the calendar above to see what dates are available. We are scheduling Tues. and Thurs. If the date is marked "open date" that means it is open for you to schedule to take food on that day.

  • When you have selected a date that is convenient for you to grab that favorite recipe and hit the kitchen, you can contact Susan Shropshire either by phone at 256-689-6396 or e-mail at sshrop@cableone.net and she will add your name to that date on the calendar.  A day or so in advance of your chosen date, please contact Samantha by phone at 256-831-2492 to set up delivery arrangements.      Should Kayla's schedule change and your delivery date become "unavailable", either Samantha or Susan will let you know.  If this happens, it might be that you could deliver the meal to Ted's parents (who live on the Munford/Lincoln line) as they are helping keep Trent busy this summer and would probably welcome a delivered meal!

Several of you wanted to assist by providing gift cards for the Darbys to use at their convenience.  This is a FABLOUS idea!!!  Please feel free to make those purchases and drop them off either in person when Kayla can have visitors or with a card in the mail.  These will come in very handy for the family!!!

  • Another suggestion of a way that would be helpful is to prepare your favorite "freezable" recipe, put it in a container that does not have to be returned, put a label on it as to what it is and how to cook it, either go ahead and freeze it or call Samantha and set up a convenient delivery time and drop it by for the Darby's freezer!  This way Samantha can have a variety of dishes in the freezer, thaw them out and pop them in the oven when needed!
